Australian agent/booker Kevin Somers loses battle with cancer

Kevin Somers, the Australian agent/booker who worked with Jimeoin, Dave Hughes, Eric Bana and Vince Sorrenti over the years, has lost his battle with cancer.

Somers was a close friend of many in the industry. One of his mates, Don Elford, put this together:

Growing up in Canberra Kevin Somers was known to many in the entertainment industry as an agent/booker.

Kev worked for Harbour Agency for a period before booking mostly comedy into the newly built temporary casino in Sydney around 1995.

He booked many dates and tours over many years for the likes of”

• Vince Sorrenti
• Jimeoin
• Eric Bana
• Russell Gilbert
• Dave Hughes
• Peter Rowsthorn
• Tommy Johnson
• Scared Weird Little Guys
to name a few.

Venturing out into other business opportunities as an Events Management Company he relocated to the US mid-2000 to champion the spray tan product SunFX.

After returning to Australia Kevin, even though diagnosed with cancer, launched his own personally inspired shirt design company SOMERSBERRY

Diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer in April 2017 Kev started his battle to beat the disease. Earlier this year he was given the news he was officially in remission only to find out two days later that he had developed other tumours in his brain.

Kevin passed away at Wedgetail Retreat last Wednesday

His friend Ollie Simon from Star 100 Entertainment posted a call for donations for those that cared for him so well in in last days.

Another friend Ollie Simon posted on Facebook:

Hi everyone I am sure that most of you have heard beautiful Kevin Somers passed away yesterday. I was at the Hospice with him and Samantha his wife for the last few days which were very sad but he was in a lot of pain and is now at peace. He had 2 things he really wanted to do and ran out of time to do so I would love your help to make these happen he wanted to take Sam to Nashville and for her to see it and secondly to do a fundraiser for the Hospice Wedgetail Retreat which is built in a rainforest with an amazing team of nurses, doctors and volunteers. It is not government funded and survives on donations. So not sure how best to do all this but pm me if you want to get involved or help. I think we have enough entertainment, media and travel friends on here to make Kevin’s wishes come true!

Celebration of Kevs life will be Thursday 13th December at Pottsville Beach. Entrance to the beach is opposite 6 Surfside Crescent at 11.30am NSW time. Afterwards at Pottsville Beach Sports club lot 479 Coast Road Pottsville. Kev had also asked that we collect donations to support Wedgetail Retreat in lieu of flowers. Thank you everyone for all the kind words and support at this sad time.
