Ed Sheeran again has the No.1 album in Australia with his “÷ (Divide)” album for a twenty-sixth week in total, and fourth week in a row since it’s return to the top.
“÷ (Divide)” is also at the top in New Zealand (33rd week at No.1) where his worldwide tour moved to last week, and he is also within the Top 10 at No.5 with “x (Multiply)” and down two to No.8 with “+ (Positive)”, while his tally of weeks at No.1 are now up to 35 weeks from those three No.1 albums, making him still No.9 on the list for ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums; 1965 to 2018’ and the “÷ (Divide)” set now becomes the outright eighth longest running No.1 album since 1965, moving ahead of the 25 weeks for “Whispering Jack” by John Farnham (1986-87) and two weeks behind the “Hair” Original Broadway Cast recording (28 weeks, 1969) and three weeks away from the second longest running No.1 album for this century in “Innocent Eyes” for Delta Goodrem (which started its No.1 run this past week in 2003) at 29 weeks at the top.
The soundtrack for “The Greatest Showman” remains at No.2 for a fourth week, and loses the top spot in England after eleven weeks there, and the DVD/Blu-Ray release here is slated for the first week of May, while the other soundtrack within the Top 10 this week is for ‘Black Panther’, which is down three spots to No.10.
The fifth studio album for Dami Im and her second covers set is “I Hear a Song”, which debuts at No.3 this week becoming her fourth Top 10 album and enters at the same place her previous entry “Classic Carpenters” achieved in early May of 2016. On this new set she covers songs such as “I Say a Little Prayer”, “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me”, “Cry Me a River”, “My Funny Valentine” and “Come Away with Me” amongst its fourteen tracks.
Bruno Mars edges closer to his former peak of No.3 for “24k Magic” by moving up one spot this week to No.4, while last weeks highest entry and the current US & Canadian No.1 album for XXXTentacion and “?” is down three spot to No.6. There are two further Top 10 debuts this week in the second album and new UK No.1 album by George Ezra and “Staying at Tamara’s” coming in at No.7, which by debuting this high becomes his second Top 10 album, with his first set “Wanted on Voyage” taking 24 weeks to make into the Top 10 at its peak of No.4, while coming in at No. 9 is the fourth album for the trio of local country act The Wolfe Brothers and “Country Heart”, which becomes their highest charted album here and now their second Top 10 album after their last set “This Crazy Life” (HP-10, June 2016) and this is overall their fourth albums chart entry, all landing within the Top 20.
UP:
* With a new Top 40 single from “Reputation” by Taylor Swift (TW-15), her older “1989” set leaps back up twenty-one spots to No.25.
* The highest re-entry this week is “The Singles” collection for Phil Collins at No.36, with other rising Greatest Hits sets being for The Wiggles (49 to 37), ABBA Gold & More (returns at No.65) and “ABBA Gold” (91 to 68), Maroon 5 (76 to 69), Green Day (87 to 57), Elton John’s “Diamonds” (99 to 86) and “Rocket Man: Definitive Collection” (returns at No.99), Fleetwood Mac (Very Best of, 93 to 89), Lionel Richie (returns at No.90), Michael Jackson (returns at No.91) and Play School (returns at No.92).
* The Top 10 and Top 30 entries for Shawn Mendes on the singles chart helps his older set in “Illuminate” jumps back up forty places to land at No.41.
* The Justin Bieber “Purpose” album is back up fifteen places to No.42.
* After falling last week, the Angus & Julie Stone set “Snow” is back up five to No.41.
* The Led Zeppelin triple live album “How the West Was Won” (HP-10, June 2003) got a repackaging release last week and returns to the chart at No.60 this week.
* The Weeknd released a surprise new six track EP on Friday called “My Dear Melancholy,” and this week his last two albums are back up in “Starboy” (74 to 63) and “Beauty Behind the Madness” (returns at No.83).
* Further returning albums are “Caress Your Soul” by Sticky Fingers (#71), current tourists here Prophets of Rage with their self-titled (HP-11) album (#78), “Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande (#85), “This is Acting” by Sia (#87) and “Rumours” for Fleetwood Mac (#96).
* The Hilltop Hoods are back up twelve to No.76 with “Drinking…Walking…Restrung”.
DOWN:
* For the first time in a long while, the three albums leaving the Top 10 do so with minimal drops; the Post Malone set “Stoney” (HP-5, WI10-15a) is down two to No.12, the self-titled Dua Lipa (HP-9, WI10-1) set is down four to No.13 and “Nation of Two” for Vance Joy (HP-1, WI10-4) leaves the Top 10 for the first time and is down six to No.14.
* The soundtrack for “Fifty Shades Freed” slides down four to No.16, with other soundtracks moving down being “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” (33 to 47) and “Frozen” (89 to 97), with last weeks entry for “Love, Simon” (#82) leaving.
* All of the country flyers from last week slide down dramatically this week in “What Makes You Country” (11 to 27), “Crash My Party” (39 to 79) and “Kill the Lights” (48 to 88) all for Luke Bryan, “This One’s for You” (16 to 50) by Luke Combs, whilst dropping out were “Thin Line” by Billy Ray Cyrus (#20), “Current Mood” by Dustin Lynch (#34) and “Tailgates & Tanlines” for Luke Bryan (#64).
* The Logic mixtape “Bobby Tarantino II” drops twelve to No.29.
* The two older Bruno Mars albums slide back a little this week, with “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” (29 to 33) and “Unorthodox Jukebox” (37 to 44).
* The self-titled Ian Moss set drops thirty-one places to No.54 to land right behind the Cold Chisel “All for You-The Best of” set which is stable at No.55.
* “Flicker” for Niall Horan is back down nineteen places to No.82.
* The Wombats tumble down twenty-four spots to No.93 with “Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life”.
* Further dropouts from last week Top 50 were the self-titled Stone Temple Pilots album (#38) and “Not All the Beautiful Things” for What So Not (#50).
