Ed Sheeran again holds the top two spots in the country with his tracks “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” retaining their entry positions from last week at No.1 and No.2.
Both tracks for Ed Sheeran have now achieved Gold (●) in sales, and the songs are also No.1 in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, America and Canada, giving us the thirteenth time in chart history that all SIX countries have matched the top spot (check this out via my FB page ‘Daily Number Ones’), the last time was with “Closer” for The Chainsmokers. The entire Top 5 is stable this week, with former No.1 “Rockabye” at No.3 for another week, and spending its sixth week within the top five and at No.4 again are Zayn and Taylor Swift with their ’50 Shades Darker’ first single “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (the second from the soundtrack enters lower down), and on hold at it’s No.5 peak for the second week is Andy Grammer and “Fresh Eyes”.
Debuting at No.6 to score their sixth Top 10 single and fifth song within the Top 100 this week are The Chainsmokers with a non-guest vocal track entitled “Paris”. Like it did at the end of 2016, The Weeknd and Daft Punk second pairing in “I Feel it Coming” is on hold at No.7 for the third week (at the end of ’16 it was at No.11 for three weeks), plus the track is newly Gold (●) in sales, whilst their first teaming in “Starboy” is down two places this week to No.8, still giving them back-to-back hits within the Top 10, “Starboy” is now certified ▲Platinum too. Returning to the Top 10 for a second week is Sydney singer Starley with her current UK No.7 single “Call on Me”, back up here three spots to No.9, whilst following her is another local act in the dance duo of Pnau who claim their first ever Top 10 hit locally with “Chameleon”, up five spots to a new peak of No.10.
UP:
* Rag’N’Bone Man jumps up four places to land within the Top 20 for the first time at No.17 with his current UK No.2 single “Human”.
* Returning to its former peak of No.18 are Mura Masa and A$AP Rocky with “Lovesick”.
* The Cheat Codes, David Guetta and Robin Schulz teaming on “Shed a Light” climbs three to a new peak of No.23.
* Sage the Gemini holds at his peak of No.24 for a second week with “Now and Later”.
* Alessia Cara lands her fourth Top 30 hit in Australia as her theme from the Disney film ‘Moana’ in “How Far I’ll Go” leaps up twenty-five places to land at No.27, whilst the original screen version drops twelve to No.61.
* Climbing three and into the Top 30 are Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello with “Bad Things” to No.28.
* Former US No.1 (last week in fact) “Bad and Boujee” by Migos with Lil’ Uzi Vert is up seventeen spots here to land at a new peak of No.34.
* Drake is back up three places to No.36 with his “Fake Love” (HP-16), now ▲Platinum too.
* After dropping to the end of the Top 50 last week, the Charli XCX single “After the Afterparty” rebounds seven places to No.40 and is now Gold (●) in sales.
* Ahead of her tour in about three weeks, the Adele single “Water Under the Bridge” rises one spot to a new peak of No.45 (it will surge once she gets here most likely).
* After falling out of the Top 50 last week, The xx bounce back fourteen places to No.49 with “On Hold” (HP-45) thanks to their third studio album entering at No.1 on the albums chart this week.
* The Vamps score a second-week bullet this week with “All Night”, up eleven to a new peak of No.51.
* “Set in Stone” (HP-11) for Guy Sebastian is back up ten places to No.62.
* The teaming of Galantis and Hook N’ Sling see their track “Love on Me” up two places to a new peak of No.71 (former peak was No.72).
* Last week’s lowest entry at #100 for Jax Jones with Raye and “You Don’t Know Me” jumps up twenty-four places this week to a new chart height of No.76.
* The Hilltop Hoods rise back up twelve to No.77 with their former No.2 single “1955”.
* Rebounding fifteen spots to No.82 is the Zara Larsson track “Ain’t My Fault”.
* The latest track for Little Mix is “Touch”, which this week is up eight to a new peak of No.86.
* There are three returning tracks this week, firstly is “Party Monster” by The Weeknd (#95, HP-33), Big Sean and “Bounce Back” (#96, HP-86) and “I Got You” by Bebe Rexha (#97, HP-73).
DOWN:
* After six weeks within the Top 10, the first of three Top 10 dropouts is the Peking Duk and Elliphant track “Stranger” (HP-5, WI10-6), down two to No.11.
* Spending only a single week in the ten (so far) was “Play That Song” (HP-8, WI10-1) by Train which drops six to No.14 this week.
* And the third and final ten-exit goes to Bruno Mars with “24K Magic” (HP-3×2, WI10-13), dropping five to No.15.
* With one Alessia Cara track rising, her first and former Top 10 single “Scars to Your Beautiful” (HP-8) is down four to No.20.
* Milky Chance are back down one spot to No.26 with their “Cocoon”, now Gold (●) in sales too.
* Also scoring a Gold (●) certification is the Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson single “Just Hold on”, which is down three places this week to No.30.
* After entering the Top 50 last week the Amy Shark track “Adore” is back down two to No.42, but is now also Gold (●) in sales.
* Calum Scott drops ten places to No.43 with his former No.2 single “Dancing on My Own”.
* Little Mix plummet sixteen spots to No.46 with “Shout Out to My Ex”.
* After a single week within the Top 50, the Sofi Tukker single “Drinkee” is back down eleven to No.53 (watch it blast back up in the next couple of weeks after a high JJJ Hottest 100 countdown).
* Three of last weeks Top 50 debuts all drop down into the lower fifty, with “Don’t Leave” by Snakehips and MØ (45 to 56), “Move Your Body” for Sia (41 to 60) and “How Far I’ll Go” for Auli’i Cravalho (49 to 61) all falling this week.
* The highest placed Australian in the EOY 2016 listing (at No.4) was Flume and his first No.1 single “Never Be Like You”, which is down three to No.64 and now 5x▲Platinum in sales.
* After plummeting last week, this week The Veronicas drop only eleven spots to No.68 with “On Your Side”.
* The final certified track this week on the singles chart is the Lady Gaga song “Million Reasons”, which drops thirteen spots to No.80 and is newly Gold (●) in sales.
* Reclaiming his ‘Longest Charted Single’ status this week is the Ed Sheeran single “Thinking Out Loud”, which drops five to No.81 after returning last week, now racking up its 111th week within the Top 100, whilst former leader “Uptown Funk” for Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars leaves the Top 100 for the first time, having accumulated 113 weeks (continuous too) inside the hundred.
* The third ‘Moana’ soundtrack entry is the Dwayne Johnson track “You’re Welcome”, which falls fourteen spots to land at No.91.
NEW ENTRIES:
* #55 – “Not Afraid Anymore” (from ’50 Shades Darker’) by Halsey becomes the second single lifted from the mid-Feb due sequel film and soundtrack, with the first entry still sitting within the Top 5 in the Zayn and Taylor Swift duet “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (TW-4, HP-3), both songs are track one and two on the soundtrack, which also features songs by Tove Lo, John Legend, Nick Jonas with Nicki Minaj, Sia, Kygo, The Avener and JP Cooper amongst its many tracks (due Feb 10th).
* #89 – “Fracture” by Slumberjacks feat Vera Blue is the first entry for the Australia duo of Morgan and Fletcher who make up Slumberjacks, who have teamed with Vera Blue (aka Celia Pavey), who recently was on the No.2 single for Illy in “Papercuts” (TW-66), and this new entry becomes her fourth entry as Vera, and overall her eleventh, as she has charted seven singles under her name Celia Pavey during her 2013 stint on ‘The Voice’.
