At the moment Robin Thicke looks set to land his first national No.1 single in Australia with “Blurred Lines”. If successful, Thicke will knock off Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” after only one week.
It’s also better news for Pharrell Williams who is guest vocalist on both tracks, so he will be landing back-to-back No.1 singles as a guest on both songs.
With Will.i.am appearing on The Voice last night during the Battle Rounds first finale performing his latest track “#ThatPower”, it looks like the Top 20 song is now a Top 10 hit. We could also land the first Top 10 hits for this season of The Voice, as potential top-tenners could come from Jackie Sannia with “Arithmetic” (the original by Brooke Fraser is Top 70 ATM), Harrison Craig with “Home”, Michael Paynter’s “The Horses” (the original cover by Daryl Braithwaite is just outside the Top 50 ATM) or Steve Clisby’s “God Bless the Child”.
Is the Ke$ha album “Warrior” going to land a third hit this week on the Australian charts, as her latest single “Crazy Kids” is on track for a Top 30 debut, as too is the new single by Mariah Carey entitled “Beautiful” featuring Miguel as guest vocalist, with a third Top 30 debut contender in Bruno Mars with “Treasure”.
Further potential new entries this week could come from Little Mix feat Missy Elliott with “How Ya Doin’?” or the return of Sean Kingston featuring Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa on “Beat it” (nothing to do with the Michael Jackson song), whilst Empire of the Sun debuted low last week with “Alive”, it potentially could rocket up into the Top 40 this week.
Over on the albums side of sales, Rudimental’s debut album “Home” could potentially knock Michael Buble’s “To Be Loved” set off the top spot, with a close run to the top for the new Lady Antebellum album “Golden”. The new Knife Party mini album or EP “Haunted House” and the new Rod Stewart studio album “Time” could make Top 10 debuts this week, and we could even see a return of the Will.i.am album “#Willpower” jumps back in thanks to his visit here this past week.
The ABBA Special on Channel 7’s “Sunday Night” last weekend could help the “Abba Gold” album return to the chart this week, whilst other new albums that could potentially chart this week include the third album for She & Him (She being Zooey Deschanel) entitled “Volume 3”, Youngblood Hawke with “Wake Up”, Steve Martin (the film star, comedian and banjo player) and Edie Brickell (she formerly with The New Bohemians) with their collaborative bluegrass effort “Love Has Come for You”. Country singer Kenny Chesney has a new album out called “Life on a Rock” and Michael Bolton covers songs on his new set “A Tribute to Hitsville”.
