Australian rapper Adam Briggs (aka Briggs aka AB Original) has landed as job as a writer on Matt Groening’s new show for Netflix ‘Disenchantment’.
Groening is the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama. He has been working on this new show for Netflix since January 2016.
Briggs, an indigenous Australian, grew up in Shepparton, Victoria and is from the Yorta Yorta people.
After moving to Melbourne and basing himself in St Kilda Briggs accessed the local hip-hop community and was signed to Obese Records. In 2009 he released his first EP Homemade Bombs, funded by Hilltop Hoods member MC Suffa.
Hilltop Hoods then signed Briggs to their own Golden Era records and took him on tour in Europe.
Brigg’s second album ‘Sheplife’ was released in 2014. He said that Shepparton was like “a bad friend that always lets you down”.
In 2015 Briggs started his own label Bad Apples Music and signed indigenous hip-hop artists Birdz, Nooky and Philly. He collaborated with Trails from Funkoars on a new project A.B. Original and cleaned up with nominations for the 2017 AIR Awards.
Briggs tweeted “Being part of the #Disenchantment world has been literally a dream come true”.
