Avril Lavigne’s wedding apparently turned into a “wild all-night party”.
Over the weekend it was reported the 28-year-old singer had married Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger in the South of France. However, it has now emerged that the Canadian pair actually didn’t tie the knot until Monday – on Canada Day.
Avril and Chad exchanged vows in front of around 50 guests at the Chateau La Napoule near Cannes. Celebrations then carried on with dinner and a dance party until the early hours of Tuesday.
“Yes, they’re married,” an insider confirmed to Us Weekly.
“It was a wild, all-night party with drinking, dancing, incredible food and lots of laughter and tears of happiness,” a second source added.
It seems that the pair kicked things off with a pre-wedding party over the weekend, before getting married yesterday.
Guests reportedly partied until 6am to tunes including Bruno Mars’ Marry You and Sweet Home Alabama.
The festivities also included a spectacular fireworks display on Monday evening.
“Avril and Chad had glasses of wine in their hands and were kissing as fireworks popped overhead and sparkled down,” one guest revealed. “It was a magical moment and everyone was overwhelmed!…
“It was a truly amazing wedding, absolutely magical.”
Mike Heller, CEO of the Talent Resources company who represents Avril, sparked wedding speculation by posting a message on his Twitter account.
‘I’m in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration,’ he wrote over the weekend.
Avril previously revealed she wanted her wedding to 38-year-old Chad to be a “once in a lifetime experience”.
This is Avril’s second marriage, as she was formerly wed to Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley.
