Los Angeles based indie band AWOLNATION have released the song California Halo Blue inspired by the devastating California bushfires of 2018.
The song was inspired when the bushfires ravaged frontman Aaron Bruno’s hometown of Woolsey, CA.
“I thought I had until the morning and I know what to do,” he sings about the speed in which fires take hold.
The song, while about the bushfires in California, are likely to strike a chord with Australian audiences as well as we watched literally hundreds of bushfires touch the whole country this November just gone.
The b-side to the new single is a cover of The Cars’ Drive, recorded before the recent passing of The Cars’ Ric Ocasek.
It has a little bit of an 80s and 90s hip hop beat in it,” singer Aaron Bruno says of the cover. “It’s really just me putting my own little spin on a song I always treasured, and at the same time now paying respect to Ric, Benjamin Orr and The Cars as well.”
AWOLNATION’s California Halo Blue/Drive is out now through the usual channels.
