Barbra Streisand, Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hanson) and Gwyneth Paltrow are in negotiations to star in the upcoming Netflix series The Politician.
The series has a two-season order from the streaming service and was created by Ryan Murphy whose resume includes Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story, 9-1-1 and Scream Queens. He is also creating the series Ratched for Netflix which stars Sarah Paulson as the pre-One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest Nurse Ratched.
The show, a comedy, reportedly revolve around a rich young man (Platt) with political aspirations although additional details are staying under wraps. There is speculation that the hour-long show will contain musical numbers.
Also working with Murphy are Glee partners Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
Word is that Platt is signed and that Paltrow, who is Falchuk’s fiancee, and Streisand are in final talks for the series.
Streisand, who has almost two dozen films to her credit, has only appeared in two TV series in the past, as an uncredited pedestrian on Miami Vice and in a voice-only part on Modern Family.
