Fans of Sigur Ros and Beck fans had better make sure they have some festival money lying around because the second annual Harvest Festival is expected to be announced soon and according to one industry insider, Sigur Ros and Beck going to be on it.
Rumours of Sigur Ros’ involvement spurred on when the band’s operatic singer Jonsi told Triple J that they would be hitting Australian shores in November, however Beck’s involvement has been kept a little quieter.
The Melbourne leg of the festival last year turned out to be a logistical nightmare, with punters left stranded with excess drink tickets and facing enormous queues for food and toilets, however, promoter AJ Maddah did bend over backwards to ensure wrongs were righted and refunded the “non-refundable” drink tickets to anyone who would send them in and seemed genuinely upset on his outspoken twitter account that people were unhappy with how his festival was run.
Despite the poor orgnisation of the festival, Portishead’s performance in front of a beautifully lit Werribee Mansion at the inaugural Harvest Festival will go down in history as one of the greatest live performances this city has ever offered.
Festival promoter AJ Maddah recently confirmed via twitter that the festival would take place on:
NOVEMBER
10 – Melbourne, VIC
17 – Sydney, NSW
18 – Brisbane, QLD
Venues are yet to be confirmed.
