Little River Band co-founder Beeb Birtles will host the world premiere of his An Evening of Zoot, Mississippi & LRB at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in February.
As a teenager Beeb was in a series of school bands which was when he first teamed up with Darryl Cotton. They were initially known as Times Unlimited, then Down the Line before changing their name to Zoot.
Zoot also featured Rick Springfield and gave Beeb his first chart it with 1x2x3x4.
After Zoot Beeb and Grahame Goble teamed up for Mississippi. ‘Kings of the World’ was a no 7 hit in Australia.
Little River Band brought Beeb international success. ‘Fire Under The Wire’ was a Top 10 album in America. ‘Fire Under The Wire’ and ‘Sleeper Catcher’ both sold over 1 million copies in the USA while ‘Diamantina Cocktail’ and ‘Time Exposure’ were both awarded Gold status in the USA for sales over 500,000.
