Mavis Staples next album ‘We Get By’ was produced by Ben Harper.

Harper not only produced the album but also wrote all 11 tracks. The songs tell the story of America’s political divide.

“These songs are delivering such a strong message,” Staples said. She looks to the formidable and progressive opening track Change as an example of the strength in the words she is belting. “We truly need to make a change if we want this world to be better.”

Mavis’ previous albums ‘If All It Was Was Black’ (2017), ‘One True Vine’ (2013) and ‘You Are Not Alone’ (2010) were produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. ‘Livin’ On A High Note’ (2016) was produced by M. Ward. ‘We’ll Never Turn Our Back’ (2007) was produced by Ry Cooder.

‘We Get By’ will be released on 10 May, 2019.

4. Brothers and Sisters
5. Heavy On My Mind
6. Sometime
