Actor Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of Sherlock and the upcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange, last night joined David Gilmour on stage at the Royal Albert Hall for a rendition of the Pink Floyd classic ‘Comfortably Numb’.
This is not the first time that David Gilmour has been joined on stage at the Royal Albert Hall to perform that particular song, in 2006 David Bowie also sang ‘Comfortably Numb’ in what was to be his final UK stage appearance.
Benedict and David were introduced by mutual friends and when Gilmour asked the actor to perform the song he was only too happy to accept the challenge.
Gilmour is finishing up his year-long ‘Rattle That Lock’ world tour with two final nights at the Royal Albert Hall tonight (Thursday 29th September) and tomorrow (Friday 30th September).
