Bette Midler is “waiting for the call” to appear on Glee.
The American actress-and-singer agreed to star on the high school musical show several months ago.
She is excited at the prospect of following the likes of Britney Spears and Gwyneth Paltrow by guesting on the show and has urged its creator Ryan Murphy to get in touch with her.
“I don’t know [when I”ll be on]. [Ryan Murphy] never called me,” she told Access Hollywood. “He mentioned it, but. I’m still waiting for the call. But, it’s fine!”
The 67-year-old star might not be fully signed up for the series yet, but she”s already got an idea of the character she”d like to play.
Jane Lynch is famed for her turn as acid-tongued cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester and Bette is a huge fan of her.
“I love her. She’s hilarious,’ Bette gushed. “Maybe I could play [Sue’s] evil sister!”
The star accepted Ryan”s offer to guest on Glee when they were at an industry event. Ryan made a speech and during it he gave a shout out to Bette, much to her excitement.
“He said [in his speech], ‘If Bette Midler’s in the house I want to invite her onto Glee,’ she laughed. ‘And I went, ‘OK!'”
Ryan took to Twitter after the event to talk about his excitement. He explained he was hard at work coming up with a possible role for Bette, prompting her to use the social networking website to suggest she portray one of Rachel Berry”s grandmothers.
Rachel is portrayed by Lea Michele, with Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer and Matthew Morrison also on the show.
