Beyonce and Jay Z stunned revellers at the White House on Monday (28Mar16) by making an unannounced visit to the annual Easter Egg Roll.
The star couple and its daughter Blue Ivy, four, were the surprise guests at the holiday event, hosted by President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
Beyonce and Jay Z are among the first couple’s celebrity friends, with the Formation singer having performed at Obama’s inauguration bash.
The stars clearly coordinated their look for the Easter treat in Washington, D.C. – Beyonce wore a black and white striped Alice + Olivia coat over a floral Marco de Vincenzo dress, while Jay donned a matching striped T-shirt.
Their daughter also arrived dressed up for the occasion, wearing bunny ears and a fur coat.
The 2016 Easter Egg Roll at the White House was extra special for the Obamas as it was their last. The President will complete two terms in office at the beginning on 2017, when he will hand over the job to a new politician.
Beyonce’s trip to Washington, D.C. was a big deal for singers Chloe x Halle, who performed at the White House party.
They tweeted a photo with the singer and wrote: “Big thank you to our beautiful boss lady @beyonce for coming and supporting us at #thewhitehouse today!!!!!!”
Beyonce’s mum, Tina Knowles, was also in attendance. She posted a photo of herself and her new husband at the White House, calling the trip to spend the last Easter with the President “an honor”.
Meanwhile, the family’s White House outing wasn’t without drama – the building was placed on lockdown shortly after the 138th Easter Egg Roll event following reports of gunshots at the Visitors Center at the Capitol Complex.
A shooter was quickly apprehended and taken into custody, and the lockdown was lifted.
