Beyoncé Knowles says giving birth to baby girl Blue Ivy last January helped her feel empowered and more comfortable in herself.
In newly released outtakes from her interview with the February edition of GQ, the 31-year-old singer explains how her daughter has changed her life.
The singer revealed that giving birth helped her ‘truly let go,’ as well as establish more of a connection with husband Jay-Z.
“Giving birth made me realise the power of being a woman,’ she declares.
‘I have so much more substance in my life. And expressing that excitement and that sensuality and the connection I have with my husband – I’m a lot more comfortable with that now. I actually feel like my child introduced me to myself.”
Beyoncé married rapper Jay-Z back in 2008 and he accompanied her to President Barack Obama’s Inauguration on Monday where she performed the national anthem.
Despite rarely discussing her marriage with the hip hop mogul, the singer was happy to open up about the ‘natural chemistry’ in their relationship.
“I was independent before I met my husband, and we have such a natural chemistry and a genuine relationship, and it’s based on the things that relationships are supposed to be based on,’ she says.
