Beyonce Surprises Fan With Cancer

Beyonce fulfilled the dream of a teenage cancer patient by calling her using FaceTime on Wednesday (March 22).

Ebony Banks has been residing at the MD Anderson Cancer Center for the majority of her senior year as she continues battling a rare stage four cancer. Her schoolmates at Alief Hastings High School in Houston, Texas, have done their best to keep Ebony happy and content at all times in the hospital, and even staged a special early graduation ceremony for her earlier this month (Mar17).

Knowing how much Ebony, whose nickname is Ebob, loves Beyonce, her pals decided to create a social media hashtag #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE as a graduation present, in a bid to attract the attention of the pregnant Halo singer.

“Beyonce is one of her idols. She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyonce’s attention,” student Karina Gutierrez told KTRK-TV.

And sure enough, just a few days after the hashtag went viral, Halo singer Beyonce surprised Ebony with a FaceTime call.

In a touching exchange, Banks lays in a hospital bed and says, “I love you Beyoncé,” to which Queen Bey replies, “I love you” and waves to the camera.

Following the call, Ebony’s pal Cristal Depaz added: “We try to make sure she has a smile on her face and to make her wishes come true.”

And Alief Hastings senior Shanya McKnight is still struggling to come to terms with the fact their social media campaign paid off, laughing: “It was like wow, it really happened. We actually got her attention!”

Her school also added on their Twitter page after the call: “Thank you to everyone who helped #ebobmeetsbeyonce @Beyonce.”
