Biffy Clyro is the latest band to get the MTV Unplugged treatment.
Biffy Clyro’s ‘MTV Unplugged : Live At The Roundhouse’ will be released through Warner Music.
MTV recorded the first MTV Unplugged with Squeeze on October 31, 1989. The first year included The Smithereens, Graham Parker, 10000 Maniacs, Michael Penn, The Alarm, Nuclear Valez, Joe Walsh and Dr John.
The following year Don Henley, Crosby Stills & Nash, Elton John, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, Crowded House and The Church made the list.
The next few years started a run of MTV Unplugged sessions that also become hit albums for Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Nirvana, Bob Dylan and Tony Bennett.
MTV haven’t had many Unplugged performances in recent years. Lets face it, the M in MTV these days stands for Mediocre, not Music. In 2017, the only sessions were from Poland’s O.S.T.R., Norway’s a-ha, as well as Shawn Mendes and Bleachers.
