Green Day’s management has posted a statement on the band’s official site and Facebook page setting the record straight on Billie Joe Armstrong’s tirade at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Billie Joe is seeking treatment at an Inpatient rehab for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.
Last night the press may have been wrong on the shortening of the band’s set. While the schedule on the Yahoo/iHeartRadio site listed 45 minutes between the start of Green Day’s set and the beginning of Rihanna’s, it was not clear that there was a 15-minute period after Green Day finished to change the stage set up.
At most, the set may have been shortened from 30 minutes to 25, although there is no confirmation of that fact. All we have is that Billie Joe Armstrong went on a profanity-laced tirade, stopping mid-song and commenting on the timer counting down to the end of the band’s set.
There is no further information on the type of substance abuse or where Armstrong is being treated.
