Billy Gibbons has his own beer. Billy’s Ocho Suerte is a Tex Mex-Vienna style lager with Texas soul.
That soul has a 5.4% alcohol kick to it, by the way.
Ocho Suerte was modelled on Billy’s favourite brew Negro Modelo and commissioned for his BFG BBQ sauce launch at SXSW.
Billy recruited Twisted X Brewing Company in Cedar Park, Texas to brew up his first batch. Co-founder Jim Sampson and partner Shane Bordeau hope to brew more Ocho Suerte when they open their larger brewery.
It must be going ahead. A trademark for Ocho Suerte was filed on March 30, 2012. Goods and Services is listed as : BEER. The trademark states first use anywhere was 3/16/2012.
I can personally endorse Billy Gibbons Ocho Suerte as a mighty fine drop after sampling a pint at Billy’s BBQ sauce launch party during SXSW at day of March 16, 2012. According to the official trademark papers lodged, I must have been one of the first people to ever taste the beer … and I survived!
