ZZ Top singer and guitarist Billy Gibbons has a new release and it is not that long overdue ZZ Top album. Billy launched his new BFG BBQ sauce today in Austin.
Billy was at Lambert’s restaurant in Austin today to do the honors shouting us all Bloody Marys spiced up with the BFG sauce and then heading inside for a good old fashioned Texan brisket smothered in BFG as well.
But Texas wouldn’t be Texas without music and the entertainment for the afternoon came from the exceptional smooth Mike Flanigan Trio featuring the legendary Jimmie Vaughan and with the incredible Frosty Smith on drums.
At lunch Billy told Noise11.com that the incredibly overdue ZZ Top is coming … slowly. He said the band is waiting for it too. Rick Rubin is the hold-up. “He likes to do things at his pace,” Billy said.
Billy also said the Rubin touch will not be a reinvention of the ZZ Top sound. “It will sound like ZZ Top,” he said.
And ‘Bones’ fans, Billy will be back as Angela’s father in the show for the next couple of years. “They have just resigned up for two more seasons,” he said.
