Billy Joel and Neil Young will return to New York stages.
The pair of music icons have announced shows for the New York area.
Billy Joel will play New Year’s Eve at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, his first arena show in the New York area since 2006. Joel has taken a bit of a break from major tours over the last few years; however, he did play a benefit on his native Long Island earlier this month to benefit Long Island Cares.
Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center said “We are proud that Billy has chosen to make Brooklyn his first arena concert in New York City since 2006. When we opened Barclays Center 13 months ago, Billy was one of the must-have artists for our building and we are thrilled that he will be ringing in the New Year on Brooklyn’s biggest stage. New York City born and Long Island raised, Billy is an iconic New Yorker and we are looking forward to a memorable evening.”
Ben Folds Five is opening the show, starting at 9:30, followed by Joel leading up to the New Year.
Also announcing Big Apple shows is Neil Young who will play a four night run at Carnegie Hall on January 6, 7, 9 and 10. Tickets for fans go on sale November 1 at 10 AM EDT while general sale starts November 4 at 11 AM.
