Billy Joel Plays His First Madison Square Garden Residency Gig SETLIST

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on January 29, 2014

in Live,News

Billy Joel may have the most secure job in music for the next few years, a monthly gig at Madison Square Garden.

The singer/songwriter signed a contract with the venue to appear one per month until demand for tickets ebbed. Based on the fact that he was able to sell out twelve straight nights there a few years ago, it would be within the realm of belief that he could be set for many, many years.

Joel opened with Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway) and went on to play at least one song from every one of his albums except 1989’s Storm Front including four each from The Stranger and Glass Houses, three each from Turnstiles and The Nylon Curtain, two each from 52nd Street and The River of Dreams and one from Cold Spring Harbor, Piano Man, Streetlife Serenade, An Innocent Man and The Bridge.

Joel’s next appearance at Madison Square Garden is February 3 followed by March 21. All dates, so far, are sold out.
