The Billy Thorpe Scholarship has been announced by QMusic in Queensland for 2013.
The scholarship, named after the late Billy Thorpe, is designed to develop the future of Australian Rock and Roll.
The scholarship is open to individuals or bands at an emerging stage in the career. For the sake of the scholarship, emerging is defined as “in the development stage of their music career’. It means who have not achieved a record or label deal, national or international sales exposure but can be seen as working towards these goals.
Applicants must have been at least 16 on January 1, 2012, Australian or permanent citizens, reside in Queensland and have written a minimum of four original songs.
$10,000 in funding is available to the winning applicant.
The closing date for applications is July 22, 2013. The winner will be announced in October.
