Modern rockers Birds Of Tokyo return with their first new music in two years as an EP and post of ‘Making Of’ video.

The Perth-born band, essentially a side project, eclipsed the success of their other bands with the self-titled third album in 2010 going platinum and spawning the hit ‘Plans’.

So, do they follow it up quickly with another album? No. They tour for a couple of years, record, and now announce an EP titled ‘This Fire’.

To be fair, they gained two new members Glenn Sarangapany on keys and Ian Berney on bass, moved East, worked on new music in France and Sydney and recorded in Los Angeles with Dave Cooley (who previously worked with Silversun Pickups).

Adam Spark says in a press release, “We really made a conscious choice to just put a match to everything we’d done before so that we could create something that felt fresh and exciting for us. Hopefully people who like the band will feel the same way when they hear it”.

So ‘This Fire’ will be the first taste of their next album, which is slated for a March 2013 release. The band have posted the first ‘Making Of’ video diary online for fans. Check it out below.

‘This Fire’ will be available digitally, on CD and as a limited edition 10-inch record on Friday 5 October.
