Rich Robinson, the former guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder of The Black Crowes is going Ed Sheeran-like solo. It will be just Rich and guitars on stage.
Robinson will perform with just five guitars and his own musical zeitgeist. The guitars include a freshly restored Guild 12-string, two small-bodied vintage “parlour” guitars, a jumbo acoustic as well as a hand-built gypsy-style Teye electric. Rich intends to bring the songwriter experience to the stage,
Robinson’s recent solo album, The Ceaseless Sight, will be the basis of the setlist. It is Robinson’s third solo album following on from ‘Through A Crooked Sun’ and ‘Paper’. he will also cover songwriters like Bob Dylan and classics like Buffalo Springfield as well as traditional folk blues.
“I enjoy the simplicity of doing acoustic shows where I can break a song down to its purest form; it’s closest to the way I write them,” Robinson said in a statement.
The acoustic shows will not be a change of direction for Robinson. He will continue to record and perform with his electric band following this tour.
