Bliss N Eso have visited Afghanistan to document an anti-war story minus the media spin.
The 11-minute documentary was created so that they could give their fans a first-hand view of the war in Afghanistan and they are quick to point out no-one in Afghanistan wants a war either.
Bliss N Eso were invited to Afghanistan by Forces Entertainment. The secret mission was originally planned for 2012 but cancelled last minute when an escalation broke out.
The opportunity presented itself again in 2013 when Bliss N Eso manager Adam Jankie met with Lt Col Ian Robinson of Forces Entertainment. It was the final entertainment mission before the withdrawal of Australian troops from Afghanistan.
“We don’t support war or conflict, what we do support are our fellow human beings,” says Bliss N Eso’s Jonathan Notley. “These guys and girls who are stationed all around the world are our fans and due to the nature of their work they don’t get to see our shows back home. To be able to play to them in a location like Afghanistan was a fulfilling and eye opening experience, and likely something we will never be able to do again.”
