This evening Latitude Festival unveiled the headliners and line ups for the 2013 festival with Bloc Party, Foals and Kraftwerk to headline the Suffolk Festival that runs from 18th – 21st July.
After storming back on to the scene with their long-awaited comeback album ‘FOUR’ in 2012, Bloc Party keep up the momentum in the new year when they played their biggest headline UK show of their career so far to a sold-out crowd at the 19,000 capacity Earls Court with rumours of the band heading back to the studio to record new material.
Meanwhile this week sees the release of a book containing all of Kele Okereke’s lyrics to date – covering the bands discography published by The Lyric Book Company available from Amazon, BlocParty.com and other retailers. The band first hit the scene in early 2000, garnering a reputation as being fiercely intelligent and independent. With well over 3 million albums sold worldwide, Bloc Party have gone on to experience worldwide recognition and fame, helped in part by Okereke’s enigmatic and emotional lyrics.
Taking influences from classical literature, rave culture, religious texts and East London street slang, Kele’s irresistibly idiosyncratic lyricism has developed over the years and has become something of an instrument in its own right. It is only fitting that Okereke’s unique lyrics are brought together for the first time in this beautiful volume. Containing all of Bloc Party’s impressive canon plus Kele’s solo material.
”It is quite an honour to see all these lyrics in their correct forms bound in such an exquisite book. It’s truly humbling and I hope these words move the readers as much as I have been moved writing them,’ said Kele Okereke.
