Blondie have cracked the cork on their 10th studio album ‘Ghost Of Download’ with a showcase performance at SXSW in Austin, Tx on Thursday. The SXSW show was the official launch of the album released this week.

‘Ghost Of Download’ also marks 40 years of Blondie. Deborah Harry and Chris Stein formed Blondie in 1974 in New York City. In 1976 Blondie released their first single ‘X Offender’. It stiffed.

However, on the other side of the planet in Melbourne, Australia Ian Molly Meldrum played the b-side on his TV show ‘Countdown’ and gave Blondie their first hit song anywhere in the world in Australia with ‘In The Flesh’. ‘In The Flesh’ charted in Australia in October 1977 and spent 15 weeks in the Australian chart where it reached number 4 nationally.
