Blue Sun’s Josh Romig wrote his new single ‘Real Boy’ about Pinocchio.
“A lot of people know that story, but I tried to change the premise so in ‘Real Boy’ he never lied – but everyone thought he was a filthy liar anyway,” he says.
When Josh wasn’t honing his performance skills by busking on the streets of Melbourne, he was in front of an 8-track complete with guitar trying to master the art of songwriting. He was considered good enough to be asked to participate in a Face The Music masterclass with acclaimed singer-songwriter Charles Jenkins, and in 2010 won the Young Songwriters Award at the Apollo Bay Festival for his tune ‘River Mouth’.
Twenty-two year-old Josh formed Blue Sun mid-2011 with Adelaide guitarist Shane Reilly (who has played alongside Tex Perkins and The International Men Of Leisure, and has a solo album under his belt), and Roger Bergodaz (Jordie Lane) on bass, with Pete Marin (Paul Kelly) completing the line-up on drumming duties. Shane and Roger also produced the EP, ‘We Are Blue Sun’.
Blue Sun launch their catchy new single ‘Real Boy’ on 6 September at Yah Yah’s in Melbourne, supported by Axolotl and Leena.
