Bluesfest has just dropped its earliest announcement ever with 13 acts named for the 2016 event.
The first round of announcements includes some Bluesfest exclusive acts, The National, Mickey Virtue, and Joe Bonamassa.
Also on the list is Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the band featured on Neil Young’s new album ‘The Monsanto Years” but no Neil … so far. Lukas is the son of Willie Nelson. Does the Promise of the Real announcement suggest Neil Young for Bluesfest 2015? Well there is a good chance considering ‘The Monsanto Years’ is his album too.
Bluesfest boss Peter Noble has this to say, “Well THIS is a surprise – We have hardly packed up from Bluesfest 2015 – and here we go into 2016 with our first announcement already. And yes, this first announcement has something for EVERYONE – there is not one dud in it”.
The first announcement for Bluesfest 2015 is:
The National – exclusive
City and Colour
UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue – exclusive
Joe Bonamassa – exclusive
Tedeschi Trucks Band
The Cat Empire
Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real
The Word
Rhiannon Giddens
Janiva Magness
St. Paul & The Broken Bones
Allen Stone

Bluesfest 2016 will be Thursday March 24-28, 2016.
