Bluesfest are working on a surprise guest to perform on the Friday of the festival following the last minute cancellation of The Black Keys earlier this week.
Bluesfest are remaining tight-lipped as to who the act will be and will not confirm if the replacement will be an Australian act or an international artist.
One person who did put his hand-up immediately as a willing replacement was US funk and soul legend Robert Randolph.
When Black Keys cancelled on Monday, Randolph tweeted Noise11 “I’ll come play”. That tweet was passed on to Bluesfest boss Peter Noble.

Band of Skulls, the band who were to tour Australia with The Black Keys, will still head to Australia for their Bluesfest show. They will also now play a second show at Bluesfest on April 4 in addition to their previously scheduled Good Friday performance.
To accommodate the second show for Band of Skulls, Genevieve Chadwick has changed her performance time on the MOJO stage on Saturday to 12noon.
A statement from Bluesfest reads, “Bluesfest Festival Director, Peter Noble has been working tirelessly to find an artist to play on Good Friday in lieu of The Black Keys cancellation. Bluesfest cannot disclose whether this remaining ‘Secret Show’ will be an International or Australian artist but festival-goers are to be advised to be front and centre at the MOJO stage on Friday 3rd April at 7:30pm for a very special Good Friday treat. Watch this space!”
Robert is not convinced he’ll get the gig. “haha pretty sure I’m not big enough yet to fill those shoes,” he tweeted.
