The Bob Dylan 75th Birthday Salute for 2016 will take place over three nights in May.
Artists honouring Dylan this year are Angie Hart, Sime Nugent, Gallie, Suzannah Espie, Lisa Miller, Rebecca Barnard, Van Walker, Simon Bailey, Charles Jenkins and Lucie Thorne with special guests Chris Wilson on Saturday 27 May and Tex Perkins is special guest on Sunday 29 May.
The artists are backed by Shane O’Mara (guitar): Stephen Hadley (bass), James Black (keys) and Ben Wiesner (drums), Ben Franz (pedal steel) and Jen Anderson (violin).
“The fact that we have more women singing Dylan this year was by design and not accident,” Shane said.
“Annual celebration shows like this continually need a point of difference to keep their loyal audiences coming back and to attract new fans. Reinterpretation is the key from the get-go – of the songs and the event itself.”
“We have a lot of great talent this year. Not that I can tell you who will be performing which Dylan song – the artists are still thrashing it out amongst themselves to see who will sing what. There will be some surprises in there for both the performer’s fans and Dylan fans alike. It is going to be a fantastic show.”
