Legendary songwriter Bob Dylan is facing a barrage of accusations accusing him of ripping of other people’s images for his own paintings.
Dylan is exhibiting his works at the Gagosian Gallery in New York but was quickly discovered that the images appeared nowhere near original ideas.
One of the Dylan paintings ‘Opium’ bares an almost exact resemblance to a 1915 photograph by Leon Busy titled Indochine.
The Dylan faux-paus is the equivalent of a musician covering another artist’s work and claiming their song to be their own. Led Zeppelin fell foul of this exact same thing on and were forced to declare, credit and reimburse the original artists.
Dylan is exhibiting 18 painting in his collection ‘Asia Series’. He describes the works as a “visual reflection’ of his travels.
