Bobbi Kristina had ‘no significant injuries” an initial autopsy has revealed.
The 22-year-old died on Sunday after spending nearly six months in a comatose state. The daughter of Bobby Brown and the late singer Whitney Houston was originally found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in January. Following her passing, an initial autopsy was carried out by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office on Monday.
‘The initial portion of the autopsy has been completed. The autopsy does not show an obvious underlying cause of death and no significant injuries were noted,’ it said in a statement according to Reuters. No previously unknown medical conditions that could have contributed to death were identified. Additional laboratory testing will be performed. Subpoenas have been issued to obtain needed documentary information.’
Bobbi Kristina was found on January 31 at her home near Atlanta, Georgia. Last month she was moved to hospice care as her condition deteriorated.
The office previously said that a cause of death could be hard to establish considering the amount of time that had elapsed between being found and her passing. In the latest statement, it reiterated that a cause of death would not be confirmed until further investigations have been carried out.
‘We do not plan to complete the death certificate or determine a cause and manner of death until all test results are completed and all investigative, medical, and other documentary records are received and thoroughly reviewed,’ it continued. ‘We anticipate that these processes will take several weeks.’
