Funk legend Bootsy Collins reveals that soul man Bobby Womack has colon cancer.
Bobby Womack has been hospitalised with pneumonia, and friend Bootsy Collins posted on Facebook on Saturday, “Funkateers, Send Prayers & Love Vibes Up for ‘Bobby Womack’. He is Fighting Pneumonia in the Hospital Now. Will Update After I talk to Him. Thx u all.”
Twenty four hours ago, Collins posted a song he and Womack worked on and wrote: “We Pray for Bobby Womack Right Now, TO BE HEALED FROM PNEUMONIA AND ANY OTHER AILMENT HE IS FIGHTING AT THIS TIME. THIS SONG GOES OUT TO MY FRIEND BOBBY WE DID ON MY LATEST ALBUM.”
And eleven hours ago, Collins reported that he spoke to Womack, confirming that the soul legend is in the first stage of colon cancer.
He posted: “I JUST SPOKE TO OUR FRIEND BOBBY WOMACK. He Wanted You All to Know That He Loves You & Thxs for the Prayers. Docs Says He Is In 1st Stage of Colon Cancer, He is Very Up Beat About His Future, we laughed & joked before we hung up. Thxs Funkateers, we will get him Back on the One!”
Womack cancelled a live appearance in Houston twelve days ago and was hospitalised, and has battled prostate cancer in the past.
The singer is on the verge of releasing his first album in ten years – The Bravest Man in the Universe – in June.
