The body of Peter Banks, the original guitarist for Yes who died two weeks ago, is still being held by the coroner but that is finally about to change.
Banks died two weeks ago this coming Thursday but, without next of kin to complete paperwork and sing for him, his body has not been able to be released.
Peter’s manager, George Mizer, talked with the site Something Else! about the situation, saying that the guitarist’s ex-wife, Cecilia Quino, was originally not interested in getting involved but she finally relented and has signed the documents. Arrangements are now being made with a funeral home to have Banks cremated by the end of the week. Mizer defended Quino’s actions, telling the site “I believe the problem with Ceci, Pete’s ex-wife, was that she was in shock and disbelief.”
Prior to Quino’s action, both Mizer and Banks sideman Nic Caciappo started campaigns to raise money from fans to help in the financial situation which, Mizer felt, may have been holding back the ex- from taking action.
Yes has also put up a message on their official Facebook page telling fans of a new memorial page where they can share their memories:
