Folk hero Bon Iver is releasing the stems of his song for fans to remix, with prize money for the best.
Dubbed, naturally, the ‘Bon Iver, Bon Iver: Stems Project’, the band/man has released the original instrumental stems for all ten songs on their/his self-titled album so that fans can have a crack at mashing them up.
If you’re into the idea, you can sign up to Indaba Music here, download the stems, make your own tunes, and upload them by August 29 to be in the running for the $10,000 prize ($1000 per song on the album). The remixes will be voted on by Indaba Music members and the winners will be announced in the third week of September.
The winning remixes will get the cash and also appear on the official Bon Iver, Bon Iver: Stems Project remix album on Spotify.
To plug it, Bon Iver and fellow Jagjaguwar artist S.Carey have popped a remix of ‘Minnesota, WI’ up on Spotify (which is sadly not available on the Australian version of the service).
Can you beat Azedia’s remix of ‘Calgary’ below? Go for it.
