The next round of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees has been announced. The Cars, Dire Straits and Bon Jovi have made the list along with Nina Simone, The Moody Blues and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now recognises over 300 names. The criteria for entry is that you must have released your first record 25 years or more ago.
Each year a shortlist is created and members of the American music industry vote along. That data is then combined with the public votes to select the final list.
Bon Jovi has 1.162,146 votes this year, topping the poll. The Moody Blues were next with 947,000 votes and then Dire Straits on 613,000 votes followed by The Cars with 552,000 votes.
In a statement, Jon Bon Jovi said “that’s for inducted us into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Long time coming, but its finally here. We’ll see you in Cleveland. Thanks for all the memories and the history we continue to make together”.
The 2018 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame will gather in Cleveland on 14 April 2018 to make it all official.
