The Morning Of The Earth live show is a rare chance to see the soundtrack of the iconic Australian surf movie performed live.
In 2008, the legendary Brian Cadd took the show on the road for the very first time, assembling original soundtrack contributors G. Wayne Thomas and Tim Gaze (Taman Shud) and special guests Lior and Mike Rudd (Spectrum) to bring the music of the greatest Australian surf movie of all-time to life for the very first time.
In 2011, Cadd, Gaze, Rudd, Lior and Gyan are taking the show on the road but this time with new never-before seen footage from director Alby Falzon.
The original movie was never created as a lasting masterpiece, it just happened that way. But in doing so, the longevity of the movie has kept the songs written especially for this movie alive.
Cadd (with G. Wayne Thomas) was hands-on with the production of the original soundtrack and contributed the three songs ‘Sure Feels Good’, ‘Making It On Your Own’ and ‘Come With Me’. Gaze gave us ‘First Things First’, ‘Bali Waters’ and ‘Sea The Swells’ on the original soundtrack. You get to hear the original voices sing those original songs.
Lior, Rudd and Gyan interpret the other soundtrack material from Terry Hannigan, John J. Francis and Peter Howe.
The soundtrack’s two moments were kept to the end of each set with the cast performing the John J. Francis penned ‘Simple Ben’ and what became a hit for G.Wayne Thomas in 1972 ‘Open Up Your Heart’.
‘Morning Of The Earth’ struck a chord with a generation of Australians and rippled across the world. The soundtrack was even included in the recent ‘100 Best Australian Albums’ book.
