The iconic The Go Show premiered on Melbourne television in 1964 before TV was national. It was only seen in Victoria for the first two years of broadcast before expanding to South Australia.

Over time the show had three hosts Alan Field, Ian Turpie and then Johnny Young. Young will also perform on this show.

The show featured houseband The Strangers and gave many young Australian entertainers such as Olivia Newton-John, Normie Rowe and The Twilights (featuring Glenn Shorrock) their first platform for fame.

The 2013 Go Show Gold show will also feature Ronnie Burns, Colleen Hewett, Ronnie Charles, Dinah Lee, Ross D Wyllie and Tony Worsley.

Duets are planned for Cadd and Shorrock, Burns and Young and Cadd and Charles.

The event will also feature a tribute to Ian Turpie and Daryl Cotton who both performed on the previous Go Show Gold shows prior to their death.

Go Show Gold is on August 10 at the Palais Theatre, St Kilda. Tickets go on sale on May 17.
