Former Violent Femmes bass player Brian Ritchie and promoter Michael Chugg have been announced as the keynote speakers for the Australasian Worldwide Music Expo (AWME) in Melbourne in November.
Ritchie now shares the stage with fellow former Midnight Oil members as The Break and is also curator of Mona Foma in his new hometown of Hobart.
“This is the first year we’ve featured keynote speakers in the Conference Program and to have the likes of Brian Ritchie and Michael Chugg sharing their professional insights is quite a privilege,” AWME Director Simon Raynor said.
The Australasian Worldwide Music Expo will feature delegates from Glastonbury Festival (UK), Exit Festival (Serbia), Barbican (UK), BBC (UK), WOMAD Festivals (UK), Fuji Rock Festival (Japan), The Agency Group (USA), Calgary Folk Music Festival (Canada), Sziget Festival (Hungary), WOMEX (Germany), Paquin Entertainment (Canada), Modern Sky (China), Blue Frog Media (India), Chugg Entertainment, MONA FOMA, Bluesfest, WOMADelaide, Peats Ridge Festival, Future Entertainment, Sounds Australia, Boomerang Festival, Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Victoria, APRA|AMCOS, Songlines, Sydney Festival, Adelaide Festival, Meredith Music Festival, Premier Artists and many more.
During the event, more than 50 music showcases will take place across Melbourne venues.
