Bring Me The Horizon, Pierce The Veil and Fall Out Boy dominate the shortlist for this year’s Relentless Kerrang! Awards with four nominations each, while Black Veil Brides scoop three group nods.
Pop-punk foursome Fall Out Boy, who reformed recently, are up against themselves in the best single category. Their comeback gig in Camden is shortlisted for best event.
Best British Band is between Young Guns, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, You Me At Six and Enter Shikari.
And Heaven’s Basement, Mallory Knox, Fearless Vampire Killers, Marmozets and Lower Than Atlantis are the bands in the running for best British newcomer.
The weekly rock and metal magazine’s annual awards, which marks its 20th anniversary this year, is voted for by the readers.
Kerrang! Editor James McMahon said: “I can say for a fact that all other awards ceremonies are crap compared to ours. I know this because I’ve been to loads of them, and ours is the only one where I’ve ever ended up on a rooftop talking to Jack Black about what pigeon tastes like at 3am.
“The secret is that we only do this for the fans. Yeah, I know that makes me sound like Bob Geldof or something. But it’s true.”
Other awards include best TV show, best film, best video game, best festival and tweeter of the year.
The ceremony, hosted by Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, takes place in its new home, London’s Troxy, on 13 June 2013.
