Britney Spears’ life has inspired a new TV movie.
Bosses at America’s Lifetime network are developing Britney Jean, a biopic focusing on the “tumultuous true story” of the pop star’s rise to fame, fall, and her subsequent triumphant return.
Australian actress Natasha Bassett will portray the Stronger singer, with NCIS director Leslie Libman taking charge of the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will follow Britney’s humble beginnings in Kentwood, Louisiana, her success as a child star, and her personal struggles following her parents’ divorce.
Her highly publicised love life, including relationships with Justin Timberlake and ex-husbands Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline, will also feature.
Production on Britney Jean is set to begin next month (Sep16) and the movie is slated for a premiere on Lifetime in 2017.
News of the TV movie comes days before the star releases her ninth studio album, Glory, on Friday (26Aug16). Britney will also end the week with a highly-anticipated performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (28Aug16).
Her appearance at the ceremony will mark her first performance at the VMAs in almost 10 years. The last time she graced the stage at the awards show was in 2007, when she attempted to make a career comeback with a performance of her hit song Gimme More. Critics savaged her return, poking fun at the fact she appeared shaky and stumbled across the stage.
This time around, the 34-year-old is set to give a performance of her new single Make Me…
