Britney Spears Objecting To Deposition In Child Support Case

by Paul Cashmere on August 7, 2018

in News

Britney Spears is fighting a deposition request from her ex-husband Kevin Federline in their ongoing battle over child support.

Former dancer Federline is demanding triple the $20,000 (£15,400) he receives in monthly payments from the Toxic hitmaker to help care for their sons Sean, 12, and Jayden, 11, claiming his income has dwindled in the decade since they last amended the financial details of their agreement.

Britney has been objecting to the steep increase, explaining that she already covers all the costs of her boys’ monthly expenses, including tuition, extracurricular activities, clothing, and anything else they need.

Now she is trying to have his bid to quiz the singer about her finances dismissed, with attorneys for her conservatorship insisting the sit-down interview simply isn’t necessary, after already submitting her financial statements from 2017 during a court hearing on Friday (03Aug18).

According to documents obtained by TMZ, her legal representatives argue the potential deposition could disrupt her ongoing world tour, while Britney is also concerned about exposing private information about their kids’ travel and school schedules, which could place their security at risk, if she is asked about such details by her ex’s lawyers.

Her conservatorship attorneys have asked the Los Angeles judge overseeing the dispute to severely limit the information Federline is able to access, and seal the paperwork to keep any sensitive information being made public, reports TMZ.

A ruling has yet to be made.

Britney has been under a legal conservatorship since her highly-publicised breakdown in 2007, when her father Jamie was put in charge of the singer’s finances.
