Speculation has been high and rumors have been rampant but all has been confirmed today with the official announcement of Bruce Springsteen’s new album Wrecking Ball. The eleven-song set hits stores and download sites on March 6 via Columbia.
Manager John Landau said in a statement “Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life. The lyrics tell a story you can’t hear anywhere else, and the music is his most innovative of recent years. The writing is some of the best of his career and both veteran fans and those who are new to Bruce will find much to love on Wrecking Ball.
The first single, We Take Care of Our Own, hit the download sites earlier today. The album also includes three songs that the Boss has been playing for a number of years in concert, Land of Hope and Dreams, American Land (only on the Deluxe Edition) and the title cut.
Landau told Rolling Stone that the album has “social overtones” and a “very pronounced spiritual dimension” while the Hollywood Reporter said that it has “unexpected textures – loops, electronic percussion . . . influences and rhythms from hip-hop to Irish folk rhythms.”
Bruce Springteen will deliver the keynote address at SXSW in March
A special edition of the album, released on the same day, will have two bonus tracks.
