Bruce Springsteen Cracks Open A Bottle Of Wine In Hunter Valley

by Paul Cashmere on February 22, 2014

in Live,News

Bruce Springsteen kicked off the first of two concerts in the Hunter Valley with a cover of the 1947 classic ‘Drinkin’ Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee’.

Springsteen modified the lyrics to create a localised flavour when he started the song “when down in the Hunter Valley where everything is fine.

The song choice was appropriate as Springsteen and the E Street Band were performing at the Hope Estate winery on New South Wales.

The song was a surprise for fans. It was the first time Bruce and the E Street Band had ever performed the cover live.

The E Street Band also played The Easybeats classic ‘Friday On My Mind’ again for the crowd. The first time Bruce had ever played that song live was in Sydney earlier this week.

Fans at the Hope Estate Winery did not get the marathon E Street Band performance due to time restraints.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
