For quite awhile, there was a rumour that Bruce Springsteen had written music for the first Harry Potter movie in 2001 that was never used.
Then, last year, he finally confirmed that there really was a ballad that he had written for his eldest son that he thought would have been perfect for Potter but the filmmakers disagreed.
A demo for the song finally surfaced recently on a bootleg that was uploaded to torrent sites and it is a gem. While even Springsteen feels that the song is “uncharacteristic of something I’d sing myself”, we think that it is a beautiful ballad and should be, somehow, entered into the Springsteen canon through some sort of release.
