The Apia Good Times Tour has gathered together Australia’s music royalty for the 2018 line-up.
Brian Cadd, Marcia Hines, Russell Morris, Leo Sayer and John Paul Young will tour decades of hits across Australia starting in Darwin on 16 May.
Russell Morris was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the recent Australia Day honors. Marcia is an AM while John Paul Young has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
Each performer has a catalogue of hits worth a show by itself. Brian Cadd was making hits in the mid 60s with The Groop (Woman You’re Breaking Me, Such A Lovely Way), then Axiom (Arkansas Grass, A Little Ray Of Sunshine), The Bootleg Family (Your Mama Don’t Dance, The Shoop Shoop Song) and solo (Ginger Man, Let Go) as well as writing for others including John Farnham, Joe Cocker, Ringo Starr and the Pointer Sisters.
Marcia Hines was Australia’s Queen of Pop in the 70s with a string of hits from 1975’s ‘Fire and Rain’ to ‘From The Inside’, ‘I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself’, ‘What I Did For Love, ‘You’ and ‘Music Is My Life’.
Rock and blues legend Russell Morris AM had his first hit ‘Hush’ with Somebody’s Image in 1967 then back to back number ones with ‘The Real Thing’ then ‘Part Three Into Paper Walls’ before the run of ‘Rachel’, ‘Mr America’, ‘Sweet Sweet Love’ and ‘Wings of an Eagle’.
Ex-Brit, new Australian citizen Leo Sayer is a Grammy Award winning international superstar. His international impact began with ‘The Show Must Go On’ and achieved two US number one hits in a row with ‘You Make Me Feel Like Dancing’ and ‘When I Need You’.
John Paul Young is also an international star with hits in the USA (Yesterday’s Hero), the UK (Love Is In The Air) and five Top 10 hits in South Africa (Yesterday’s Hero, I Hate The Music, Keep On Smilin’, ‘I Wanna Do It With You’ and ‘Love Is In The Air’.
