Cardi B deleted her Instagram account after getting involved in a nasty spat with fellow rapper Azealia Banks.
On Friday, the outspoken star slammed the pregnant Bodak Yellow hitmaker during an interview with The Breakfast Club radio show.
Calling Cardi an “illiterate, untalented rat” and a “caricature of a black woman,” Banks discussed the rapper’s spelling mistakes on her social media posts, and compared her debut album to Beyonce’s 2016 hit Lemonade.
“Two years ago, the conversation surrounding black women’s culture was really reaching an all-time high,” she said. “There was just this really, really, really intelligent conversation going on nationally and then everything just kind of changed and then it was like Cardi B.”
Banks continued: “I’m just talking about this caricature of a black woman that black women themselves would never be able to get away with. Like, if my spelling and grammar was that bad, I’d be cancelled. If Nicki Minaj spelled like that, we would be ragging on her all day.”
According to Billboard, Cardi quickly replied to Banks’ comments, and wrote: “I’m from the hood. I speak how I speak I am how I am. I did not choose to be famous people choose me! People followed me on Instagram and the people gave me a platform to introduce my talent,” Cardi wrote in the post.
“I never asked to be a example or a role model I don’t want to change my ways because I’m famous that’s why I just mind my business. This is coming from a woman that bleached her skin but want to advocate. GOODBYE. Im not apologizing or kill myself because of who I am.”
The 25-year-old, who is pregnant with her first child, then deleted her Instagram page, and made her Twitter private meaning her tweets are not available to the public.
Cardi also addressed Banks’ interview in a lengthy post, which has now been deleted.
“The difference between you and me is that I’ve never pretended to be something I am not! I’ve made it to where I am for being myself and staying true to that,” she wrote.
“I pray you find peace in your own heart and reason in your own mind! Pray for your own success before you pray for the downfall of others!” Cardi added.
