Carrie Fisher was not a musician, but she touched many in the music world.
Fisher died on Tuesday at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday. She was not only an actress in such films as Shampoo, the Star Wars saga, Hannah and Her Sisters and When Harry Met Sally, but was also a best-selling author, screenwriter and playwright and an in-demand speaker.
She also had connections throughout the musical world from her parents, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, and her former husband, Paul Simon. What we are learning now is how deeply she affected others in music, leading off with Sean Lennon:
I can honestly say that Carrie was one of the best and closest friends I’ve ever had in my life. She was the smartest, funniest, kindest, and most generous person I have ever known. My heart is completely and permanently broken. This is the kind of loss that you never recover from. I know because I still miss my dad every single day. Carrie, I love you so much. I can’t imagine living my life without you there to fix it. You meant more to me than just friend or family, I feel that you were part of me, and you always will be.
